Lost Corridors

A free Backrooms simulator you play online — liminal halls, endless corridors, first-person maze.

Drop into a generated maze and find the exit before the Bacteria finds you. Runs in the browser on desktop and phone, or install it as an app — not Roblox, no codes.

What is Lost Corridors?

Lost Corridors is a first-person Backrooms-inspired exploration simulator: mono-yellow carpet, fluorescent hum, crawl tubes, pool rooms, and mazes that keep going. It is a free online Backrooms simulator you open in your browser, or install as an app on your phone.

How to play

Insert the Escape tape: generated corridors and rooms with an exit to find and a Bacteria that hunts you. The exit is a door in a wall outlined in blue tape — reach it and you escape. Play with the keyboard, or pick the FPS scheme in Settings for mouse look and WASD; touch devices get on-screen sticks. Your position can save on this device between reloads.

Why I built this

In May 2026 my son Winton asked me to go see a movie called Backrooms. I'd never heard of it — had no idea it started as a series of eerie YouTube shorts that took on a life of their own. We went. I was hooked. The premise is unsettling in the best way: an endless, fluorescent-lit maze of office corridors. No exit. No map. I went home and decided to build one.

Lost Corridors began as a browser simulator: a world that keeps generating ahead of you. I first wanted AI to invent wild rooms on demand. That gets expensive fast on a free budget, so I used AI as the architect instead — helping me build the engine that plans and assembles sections on its own.

Then I played it. Yuck! The problem? It was boring. The appeal of the Backrooms is watching someone desparately searching for an exit that may never appear, knowing something could catch them at any moment. That can be entertaining to watch. It isn't much fun to play when you already know there is no exit.

So I changed it. Escapemode drops you into a generated simulation: find the blue-taped exit before Bacteria hunts you down. And yes — it will catch you. I'm not a game designer — I'm trying my hand at it just for the experience. But it has real suspense, and a surprising amount of fear.

I know there are already Backrooms sites and games/simulators. That's not the point. This is a long-running lesson in 3D web tech, procedural generation, using AI as a collaborator rather than a crutch and a bit of fun. Thanks, Winn, for dragging your old man to a weird movie.

Common questions

Is it free?
Yes. Play the full simulator in your browser at no cost.
Do I need to download anything?
No. It is a WebGL simulator — open the site and play. You can also install it as an app on your phone.
Is this the Roblox Backrooms Simulator?
No. Lost Corridors is a standalone browser simulator, not a Roblox experience and not a codes list.
Does it work on iPhone / mobile?
Yes — touch twin-stick controls are built in. Landscape works best; you can also add it to your home screen as a PWA.
